Our story begins…
This January, we will unveil an enchanting world of wallpaper designs inspired by archive material from properties conserved and cared for by the National Trust. Inspiration has been drawn from historic artefacts, early and mid-twentieth century toys, decorative fabrics and original artworks, including several from the beloved children’s author, Beatrix Potter – one of the National Trust’s principal benefactors.
From classic toy cars to wooden games, these objects have been lovingly conserved and meticulously redrawn by our team. Each one has been transformed into a beautiful wallpaper design that captures the charm of the originals. The new papers have been elegantly coloured in Little Greene shades and presented alongside a selection of coordinating colours, to help you combine paint and wallpaper with confidence.
Our Creative Director, Ruth, writes: “It’s always such an honour to have access to the incredible National Trust properties, uncovering and reviving captivating historic designs, reinterpreting them and extending their history in new colourways and formats. It’s wonderful to think that these beautiful pieces of history including toys, children’s illustrations, and fabrics have now been transformed by the design team into wallpapers that will find their way into contemporary homes, bringing joy for years to come.”
A contribution from the sale of every roll of our wallpaper is made in support of the National Trust’s important work caring for 500 places, including 780 miles of coastline, historic sites, 250,000 hectares of countryside and green spaces, ensuring that people and nature thrive – now and for ever.
The ‘Storybook Papers’ collection launches on Monday 20th January 2025.
