Little Greene x Cliveden
‘As part of our collaboration with the National Trust, we were delighted to be involved in the recent restoration of the Grade II-listed Conservatory at Cliveden, a grand 17th-century estate in their care. In a project that has won in the regional category at the RICS Awards 2022, vibrant Little Greene colours combine with crisp whites for a bright and inviting space.
Built by the Duke of Buckingham in 1666, Cliveden House and Estate has had a rich and colourful history as the retreat of various nobility and socialites, including Waldorf Astor, Winston Churchill and George Bernard Shaw. Now a luxury hotel and National Trust property, it has recently undergone a £1.5m refurbishment of its magnificent Grade II-listed Conservatory which currently serves as a café for visitors.
With an ongoing partnership, Little Greene worked with the National Trust to provide a selection of paints for the renovation. As well as being sympathetic to the historic status of the building, colours were selected which would rejuvenate the space. Our bright whites, Loft White and Shirting, draw the eye up to the stunning glasswork and skylights. Providing highlights of bold colour, Puck, Sage Green and Adventurer are bathed in sunlight to add a touch of vibrancy.
The conservatory was recently announced as a regional winner at the RICS Awards 2022, which celebrates initiatives in construction and infrastructure, particularly valuing teamwork, diversity and inclusion. The Judges especially applauded the team leader at the Cliveden project, who is the youngest female RICS conservation accredited chartered building surveyor at the National Trust.
